Privacy Policy · गोपनीयता
Your privacy is sacred to us
Last updated: 24 October 2026
1. Who we are
Vedagya (the website www.vedagya.in and the Vedagya mobile app) is operated by Trikaal Darshi Technologies Private Limited, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India ("Vedagya", "we", "us"). For the personal data described here, we are the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). You are the Data Principal.
This policy is also our notice to you under the DPDP Act and the DPDP Rules, 2025. It tells you what we collect, why, how to withdraw consent, how to use your rights, and how to complain.
2. Personal data we collect
- Account details — name, email address and/or mobile number, and login details.
- Birth details — date, time and place of birth. Only needed for personalised features.
- Preferences — language, notification settings, saved profiles (for example, a partner's birth details you add for compatibility).
- Location — approximate or precise location, only if you allow it, to show correct local sunrise, Panchang and Muhurat times.
- Purchase records — what you bought, when, and the transaction reference. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partners or the app store, not stored by us.
- Support messages — what you write to us and our replies.
- Device and usage data — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash reports and which features are used.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, passwords of other services, Aadhaar numbers, or health or financial records.
3. Why we use it (purposes)
We use each type of data only for the purposes below:
- To create and run your account — account details.
- To give personalised guidance — birth details, preferences and location are used to calculate your chart, horoscope, Panchang, reports, Muhurat and compatibility.
- To process purchases and provide what you paid for — purchase records.
- To answer support requests — support messages and account details.
- To keep the service secure and working — device and usage data, to prevent fraud and abuse, fix errors and improve features.
- To send updates you agreed to — daily Panchang, festival reminders or news, only if you opt in. You can turn these off at any time.
- To meet legal duties — for example, keeping tax and invoice records, or responding to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your birth details for advertising.
4. Legal basis: your consent
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, given when you sign up, add birth details, allow location or opt in to messages. Your consent must be free, specific, informed and clear, and covers only the purposes listed above.
In a few cases the DPDP Act allows processing without separate consent ("legitimate uses"), such as data you give us voluntarily for a specific purpose (for example, an email you send to support), or where the law requires it.
5. Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent at any time, and it is as easy as giving it:
- Delete saved birth profiles, turn off location, or switch off notifications in the app settings.
- Delete your account from the app settings (where available), or email help@vedagya.in from your registered email address.
After you withdraw, we stop processing that data (and ask our service providers to stop) within a reasonable time, unless a law requires us to keep it. Withdrawal does not affect processing done before it. Some features may no longer work without the data — for example, a personalised chart needs birth details.
6. Who we share data with
We share personal data only as needed, with:
- Service providers (Data Processors) who work for us under contract — cloud hosting, databases, content delivery, email and notification services, analytics and crash reporting.
- Payment partners and app stores — to complete purchases you make.
- Authorities — when required by law, court order or a lawful government request.
Our processors may use your data only on our instructions and must protect it with reasonable security safeguards.
7. Where data is stored
Our providers may store or process data in India or in other countries (for example, our website is served through global hosting and content-delivery networks). We transfer personal data outside India only as permitted under Section 16 of the DPDP Act and never to a country the Government of India has restricted.
8. How long we keep it
- Account, birth and preference data — while your account is active. When you delete your account, or if you have not used Vedagya for three years, we erase it (we will tell you at least 48 hours before erasing for inactivity).
- Purchase and invoice records — as long as tax and accounting laws require (generally up to 8 years).
- Security and access logs — at least one year, as required by the DPDP Rules, 2025, then deleted.
- Support messages — up to two years after the request is closed.
We may keep data longer only where a law requires it or to resolve a dispute. Erased data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
9. How we protect it
We use reasonable security safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, access controls, access logging and monitoring, regular backups, and contracts requiring our processors to protect data.
If a personal data breach happens, we will inform you without delay through your account, email or phone number — explaining what happened, the likely impact on you, what we are doing, what you can do, and whom to contact. We will also report it to the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- Access — get a summary of your personal data we process, how we process it, and who we have shared it with.
- Correction and updating — fix inaccurate or incomplete data, or update it.
- Erasure — have your data deleted when it is no longer needed for the purpose, unless a law requires us to keep it.
- Grievance redressal — complain to us and get a response.
- Nomination — name another person to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to act.
How to use them: use the profile and account settings in the app, or email help@vedagya.in from your registered email address with the subject "Data request" and your registered mobile number or email. We may ask you to verify your identity. We will respond within 30 days, and never later than 90 days.
Please give accurate information and do not file false or frivolous complaints — these are your duties under Section 15 of the DPDP Act.
11. Grievance Officer and complaints
For any question or complaint about your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer:
Bharat Dave, Grievance Officer
Trikaal Darshi Technologies Private Limited
Pal Road, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India
Email: help@vedagya.in
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India through its official online portal, after first using our grievance process.
12. Children
Under the DPDP Act, anyone under 18 is a child. Vedagya is meant for adults. A child may use Vedagya only with verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian, which we will ask for before processing the child's data. We do not track or monitor the behaviour of children, or show them targeted advertising.
A parent may add a child's birth details to their own account (for example, for a naming ceremony Muhurat); in that case the parent gives consent for that data. If you believe a child's data was given without consent, email help@vedagya.in and we will delete it.
13. Cookies and analytics
The website does not set advertising cookies. It remembers a few choices on your device (such as the city you pick for the Panchang and your cookie choice) so the site works the way you left it.
Website analytics (only with your consent). If you click "Allow" in the cookie box, the website loads Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, to count visits and see which pages are read, so we can improve the site. It sets cookies (names starting with _ga) and collects pages viewed, approximate location (city or region), device and browser type, and how you reached the site. We have turned off Google signals and advertising features, and we do not use this data to identify you or for advertising. Google may process this data outside India. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
If you click "No thanks", or make no choice, Google Analytics is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time using "Cookie choices" at the bottom of every page; withdrawing is as easy as giving consent. The app may use analytics and crash-reporting tools that collect device and usage data (see section 2) to help us fix problems and improve features. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use data you have already given, we will tell you in the app or by email and, where needed, ask for your consent again.
